How is my print printed?
Fine Art Paper (Brilliant Prints)
My fine art prints are all printed and handcrafted in Singapore. The fine art paper is comparable to premium products such as Hahnemuhle 308 and is made from 100% cotton rag. This is high grade cotton which has been rolled into an extremely high quality printing paper. The method for making fine art paper has been refined in Europe at paper mills that have operated for hundreds of years. We take this paper and print using the latest genuine Lucia Pro pigment inks from Canon. This ink/paper combination is certified to last 25 years without fading.
So what you get is museum quality print with different size options to choose from
Canvas (Brilliant Prints)
I work closely with a company here in Singapore to ensure I get the best results for my customers. Brilliant Prints has its canvas manufactured to their specifications in the United States of America.
It is completely different to many of the canvas products that are being produced in Asia and Eastern Europe.
The main differences are:
- Our canvas has independent certification that it is archival for 100 years
- It contains no optical brightners (OBA’s) which make the canvas appear incredibly white, but which turn yellow over time
- It is acid free meaning that the ink we apply is protected for a long time
- It is much thicker than many of the cheaper canvas products being used by many of our competitors – similar to denim, rather than bed-sheets
- It has had 99% of the seeds removed during the manufacturing process to ensure that your print is not spoiled by imperfections in the canvas
- It has a very high dmax (maximum density) and appears bright white (without using OBA’s)
If you are overseas I would suggest that the canvas print is shipped to you in a roll so that the cost is cheaper and the print is less likely to be damaged. You will then need to source your own professional framers to stretch the canvas on a proper frame.
Our archival quality inks help create amazing canvases
Inks are perhaps the biggest differentiators between the product we create and the product manufactured by many of our competitors. As one of the greatest costs to a canvas printing business, inks are one area where many companies try to save money by using inferior, untested inks to create their canvas prints. Brilliant Prints is different in that we use only independently tested and certified inks that have been proven not to fade for between 75 and 200 years. Many canvas printers are using unsuitable printers and inks, some of which begin to change colour after only 12 months. Using Genuine inks can also offer a wider colour gamut (range of colours the printer can create).
Where do you ship to and how much does it cost?
I will ship worldwide to Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Norway, New Zealand, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the United States – tubed prints $25. If you live in another country please contact me. For original paintings, packaging and courier costs are on an individualised basis.
How are prints packaged for delivery?
Any paper print you buy will be delivered to you unframed and rolled up in a protective tube or if it is within postage standards it will be packaged flat (unframed) between thick layers of card board.
How are paintings packed for delivery?
If you do wish to have a canvas shipped on a frame I will arrange an art freight box to be custom made for any painting you buy. All delivery costs including the art freight box, courier, insurance, and export documentation for international shipping will be at an additional cost to you.
Is the size of a print on your website the size of the actual print image?
When measurements are given in the options drop down box for a specific print – the dimensions are of the actual image of that particular print (and exclude the white border). On some of the prints there is a rough painterly edge, you can either choose to have the print framed as a floating mount (so you see the rough edges) or you can have it framed with a window mat to give a larger clear frame around the print, this can look fantastic to give the print real presence in the room.
How much does framing cost?
You will need to check with your local framer as there are too many variables for me to answer this question.
If you have a question that is not answered here please feel free to ask me by using the contact page and I will get back to you.
